So here is whats in store:
My sister has finally decided what she wants me to knit for her. She received a gift certificate a home knit present of her own choosing for her birthday last january. And the stylish young lady has decided upon The Big Herringbone Cowl. All I need now is to get her to pick out some appropriate yarn

My SO Tomas has asked me to make him a new hat. He has a hat, Kirsten huen, that his aunt knit him 5 years ago (see the picture below). A hat he loves so much that, he has worn it religiously ever since, to a point where it has now been worn out and is starting to fall a part  SO My next greate challenge is to make a hat that can live up to the legendary Kirsten hue.

I did make Tomas a hat last spring, but somehow it didn’t quite get adopted. And whether it was the size, the competition of the aforementioned Kirsten Hue or maybe the fact that there was just to many chequeres when he wore the scarf and the hat  at the same time. Either way, it time to try again – let’s call it tradition

A warm and cosy double knitted hat, to go with the exchequered-vs-space-invaders scarf . The pattern is based on LEEF’S EAR FLAP HAT, but with Tomas own exchequereh pattern

The Process:

I started out by knitting one earflap at a time

Casting on stitches between the two flaps, and joining them en the round.

A nice summer dress. This cute dress might not be very groundbreaking in it’s design. But it ‘s cute and it looks like it might be fun to knit.

A cute summer shirt. It is unisex, yet feminine, a look that makes it fresh.

The rest of the collection was rather boring and looked like every other design the feature on Drops.

I started by showing him a lot of scarves patterns at Ravelry.com and based on different patterns we put together a pattern of our own. Mainly based on the Exchequered pattern from Knitty spring 2006, and combined with different versions of Space Invaders.

Now some pictures from the process:

First part of the knitting process

I started by casting on (CO) 32 sts including 2 edge stitches. Gauge is 17cm X 25 rows = 10 cm / 4 inch. Using 4,5 mm double pointed knitting needles.

Second part of the knitting process

Tomas would draw up the pattern as I knit it. The Space Invaders’ pixels were made of 2*2 stitches/rows, with 5 rows between each Space Invader. The Exchequered pattern followed the original pattern quite closely, with pixels made of 3*3 stitches/rows.

The scarf was made out of 4 parts. First the part of the Spac Invaders. Then the Exchequered pattern follow, and was mirrored. And finally the words GAME OVER were added at the bottom.

The remaining ends were weaved in and the scarf was blocked to the size of 20 cm * 170 cm.

In conclusion: This was a wonderful project. A fun and play-full color-pattern. It was challenging to try double knitting, but once I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed it and the results are great. And Tomas loved the result and was very curious about the whole process of making it

I’m still knitting, I’m still online way to much and I still enjoy sharing my work for all to see

I took me a while to figure out, because I knit Continental knit-stitches and Norwegian purl-stitches. Which meant that I had to pay a lot of attention to which color-yarn was held in front and which was held in the back – something that might be better shown trough a video than through text.

The picture above is my first try on double knitting that actually worked.

My next post will be about the finished double-knitted scarf, shown in the first picture of the post.

Amalie here was a freshman-knitter, but was a quick learner She is up for learning how to knit socks at our next knitting-evening. Very Cool!

Uuh and I started a new projekt – Knotty! And it is going great, I’ll post more about it, when I get further in the process (it seems to be a quick-knit).

Made in Brooklyn - by Jared Flood

The book “Made in Brooklyn” just arrived the other day, after only 2 weeks of waiting. Classic Elite Yarns do not ship out books to Europe as far as I could see, but luckily the book was also available on E-bay. I want to start knitting almost every pattern in the book All of the pictures in the book are as beautiful as you would expect from Jared Flood. When I manage to reproduce something from the book I’ll post pictures. Until then visit Jared Floods knitblog b r o o k l y n t w e e d – and enjoy the pictures from the book there.

I had a fun knitting get-together at my dorm this wee Had about 10 girls knitting af laughing over the and brownies, One of them being Rikke aka Powerkitty. Once I find my camera again, I’ll post pictures from the event. I really enjoyed that there were so many girls, who wanted to join us, and knit along. The plan is to meet up every other week. But I don’t know if I’ll be able to, UNI is quite demanding these days!

This monday the GAHK knittingclub will begin once again, and so will my knitting -  I can’t wait!
