“This is our knitting club… for a while now, there has been a disagrement about some of the patterns, but I am sure that will all be resolved before you move in Miss Petersen…”

A fun cartoon, by the danish cartoonists Wulfmorgenthaler :) Enjoy!

Happy (late) New Year!

With my camera being in New York, with that sweet man of mine, my pictures from New Years have are little late :) By now people have posted pictures and I can show them to you all. There is especially one thing I am very proud of and have to show you.

Photobucket
The cake I made! It is an ordinary danish “Kransekage” made from marzipan and sugar with a pretty frosting! The pictures are a bit blurry :(
Photobucket
This is me, the cake and lots of champagne! There were over 130 people invited to my dorm for New Years :)
Photobucket
Even though my boyfriend was away for new years (and still am :( ) I still managed to “score” a little – Me and Darth Wader made such a pretty couple.
Photobucket
And last but not least. Rasmus had (despite the fact that he wasn’t in Denmark) invited 7 English guys to come celebrate :) I had the pleasure of entertaining the lot :)

I hope you all had as wonderful a new years eve as I did!

(Warning links only in danish)

As you perhaps recall I have spend the last 4 month as an intern at www.mik.dk – the news portal for museums of Copenhagen.

Photobucket

To days is my last day! And to do a sort of status I thought I would show you all the stuff I have helped create for the site.

I have made 4 inspirational trips:

  1. The mid-war trip, Copenhagen in the 1920-30′ths
  2. The Chinese side of Copenhagen
  3. The literature trip
  4. The scary trip

Appart from these trips I also made a full guide to the vinter holiday at the museum week 7 2009.

And mentioned a Christmas calender and a drawing course.

I can’t seem to decide whether I think I have done a lot in my short time.. But I don’t always think conditions where optimal. It has been really interesting to see how this cultural-world works and how much stuff is going on.

Audio books to knit by

I just finished Harry Potter!

:D I started reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows this spring. I really loved the series when I was growing up, but I somehow got stuck on this last and final book. Perhaps I childishly thought that I could prevent the story from ending (especially with the ending I though inevitable) if I just didn’t finish it so soon. And also I was a little tired of the books being so similar – and slightly too actioned-packed (I could have spend lots of time just exploring the universe and the magic).

So how did I finally get through it? A good friend of mine gave me the audio-book version. It turns out that knitting (or any other sort of craftiness) and audio books are a perfect combination! It is almost like returning to childhood, when my mum used to read to me (actually she still read to me when I was passed 14, but never mind that).
In the end I really liked the series and the story turned out completely satisfying (and I am such a critical person).

But now I need a new “fix” for my story-listening-cravings to go together with my Christmas Knitmares (I am actually very productive these days)!

My drug of choice is another great fantasy novel that I somehow got stuck reading (admittedly, I am not much of a reader). George R. R. Martin’s “A game of thrones” is the first of 7 planned novels in the series “A song of ice and fire”.
So my fellow crafters and bloggers, what are you reading or listening to? Anything you can recommend?

Right now I can’t wait for the holidays so I can spend lots of time listening og knitting! Those will be the days!

Another thing I am really looking forward to: Christmas eve! I can’t wait to see my family open their presents! :D I am really excited about each and everyone! When the time is rigth I will show you what I am talking about! ;) Okay – I’ll just give you a small preview of my makings this year! It’s a garment, it’s super soft, it’s a nice brown color and I’m enjoying every stitch of it!Photobucket

I followed the last election with much enthusiasm, and was very disappointed to see Bush get re-elected! I must admit that I originally hooted for Hillary – and that my inner feminist wept to see her

loose!  But waking up to the news that the democrats are re-entering the white house is fantastic!

When I really need to get away from it all (working 2 jobs, dorm-related work, etc.) I light candless, put on Billy Holiday on my stereo, make a pot of tea and…

Photobucket

curl up in my little knitting corner. When you don’t have a lot of space, it is nice to make little areas for different purposes.

Photobucket

I can sit here for hours wrapped in my blanket knitting away. My door is open so that people can drop by, and that just adds to the cosyness of it all.

Here I am working on a pair of “New years day” socks for Tina, our dorm cook who also received the slippers I made. The Socks were done by the end of Socktober, and I’ll make a post about them when there is a nice sunny day to take nice pictures of them.

Halloween – Pumpkin time

This is Halloween!
Boys and girls of every age
Wouldn’t you like to see something strange?
Come with us and you will see
This, our town of Halloween
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Pumpkins scream in the dead of night
This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It’s our town, everybody scream
In this town of Halloween

Photobucket

I am the one hiding under your bed
Teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red
I am the one hiding under your stairs
Fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song
In this town, don’t we love it now?
Everybody’s waiting for the next surprise

Photobucket

Round that corner, man hiding in the trash can
Something’s waiting now to pounce, and how you’ll scream
Scream! This is Halloween
Red ‘n’ black, slimy green
Aren’t you scared?
Well, that’s just fine
Say it once, say it twice
Take the chance and roll the dice
Ride with the moon in the dead of night
Everybody scream, everybody scream

Photobucket

In our town of Halloween
I am the clown with the tear-away face
Here in a flash and gone without a trace
I am the “who” when you call, “Who’s there?”
I am the wind blowing through your hair
I am the shadow on the moon at night
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
Halloween! Halloween!

Photobucket

Tender lumplings everywhere
Life’s no fun without a good scare
That’s our job, but we’re not mean
In our town of Halloween
In this town
Don’t we love it now?
Everyone’s waiting for the next surprise
Skeleton Jack might catch you in the back
And scream like a banshee
Make you jump out of your skin

Photobucket

This is Halloween, everyone scream
Won’t ya please make way for a very special guy
Our man Jack is king of the pumpkin patch
Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King no
This is Halloween, this is Halloween
Halloween! Halloween! Halloween! Halloween!
In this town we call home
Everyone hail to the pumpkin song
La la-la la, Halloween! Halloween!
